Hello everyone,
Just for information, I just created a facebook page so a study mathematical side. For my part I think the solution will come from this side. I know that this newsgroup is more interested in computers, but good for those interested in that ...
Hi,
I am following an interesting track. I need the collaboration of a competent programmer in order to see if the perspectives are real or all this is an illusion. I have a preference concerning peoples based in IDF.

Hello
I have the client running on many machines and I've noticed that on several of them the client often fails to start. I think that this i due to the fact that the client starts before the computer had time to established an Internet connection and then self terminates.
I could contribute so much more CPU power if the client were to start every time the computer does. Is there a way to allow the client to try and reconnect later if the first attempt fails?
Hi,
As Etienne correctly pointed out earlier, the official Eternity II rules state: "To protect other solvers, the judges will disqualify any entry whose existence becomes publicly known before the date of the annual scrutiny following its submission, and any entrant who has publicly disclosed any details of any of the Eternity II pieces in any form or medium."
First of all a happy new year to all of you!
At the moment I made my solver public (the 22nd of September) I already submitted a score to the Eternity II adjudicators (see also http://www.fingerboys.se/eii/instructions.html). The very reason for making my solver public was that I was (and still am) not at all convinced that my submission would win the prize.
My theoretic estimates were that it would take about 10^16 nodes to beat that score. Therefore I was quite optimistic that with the help from all of you it would be possible to beat my already submitted score.
Happy new year 2009 to everyone!
And now that the first scrutiny date has passed, what will happen, according to the official rules?
"Any winner will be notified by post, telephone or email within 14 days of the scrutiny. A winner must allow his or her name, likeness, home town and solution to be used in publicity. The results of each annual scrutiny, the announcement of any winner, and details of partial-solution prizes will be published in the London Times and in the New York Times, and at www.eternityII.com."
But apparently, there is no news yet... So what else?
My Laptop will not cooperate:
I have created a piecesfile, a hint-file, and a user-file, all in txt.-format, yet I can not in anyway make your program open or work, very frustrating..

Hmmm, a tricky one. I think you might be able to dodge the public disclosure rule by not disclosing how the pieces are encoded in the software, possibly going as far as only including them encrypted in a pre-compiled library. You're right though, it's a very fine line, but I think you can technically distribute something without disclosing to the public what it contains.
Hello, I have a quad core, and I want to run both version 3.1 and 4.0, beacause i want to try with the hint pieces. Is it possible to download the 3.1 version somewhere ? I just see the 4.0 in the download section.
Thanks
I dont know why but i cant get it to work.
Minigui shows only score 0 and it is not respawning.
I did try to run version 4.0 with 3 computers but
result was the same, anyone else has the same problem?
